Netherhood Welcome Wagon – Top Rosters

Hello Everyone! I’d like you to join me in welcoming Sam from Top Rosters.

Sam has been playing WoW for going on four years, often times taking up a leadership responsibility in progression focussed guilds. During his experiences in filling raid teams, he often found himself astounded at how awful, and un-thought out, many of the applications that he saw come his way. With that in mind, he thought it would be great to start a resource for those who were looking to apply to some of the top guilds in WoW.

As Sam laid out his plans, the idea grew from offering advice and tips for how to successfully apply to a top guild to a comprehensive raiding resource that includes ideas, discussion and guides for all aspects of the raiding scene. In addition to all of the information he’s already acquired, he has been working on building a team of class columnists to assist him with class specific information (if you are interested shoot him a note!).

Among the many things that are discussed by Sam and his team, you can find advice on how to interact with trial members during their trial period, as well as tips on how to raise concerns about a guild member. You will also find tips on how to avoid tunnel vision and making the transition from PvP to PvE.

All in all, I think this is a great resource to the community! I think Sam is off to a great start, and I can’t wait to see what other topics he addresses! Welcome to the Blogosphere, Sam!

Every Tuesday, Beruthiel from Falling Leaves and Wings is bringing you the Welcome Wagon, introducing new bloggers and great reads. If you know of a new blog to the scene or wish to get your name out there, please send an email to, with the subject line “Welcome Wagon.” She’ll do her best to highlight as many as possible!

Shared Topics: Is the Horde close to conquering Azeroth? and Favorite Race

The first Shared Topic was from two weeks ago, a Topic that called bloggers to ponder the lore of Azeroth. It was suggested by Ringo Flinthammer of Flinthammer Hall and reflected on the progress the Horde have been making in the fight for Azeroth:

Deathwing may have caused the Cataclysm, but the leaders of the Horde have been quick to take advantage of the chaos.

The lands north of the Thandol Span now almost entirely belong to the Forsaken. The Alliance have been expelled from Azshara and the Stonetalon Mountains. Only in the Southern Barrens are the Horde losing any ground.

Is the war between the Alliance and the Horde close to an end, with a Horde victory? Are Sylvanas and Garrosh close to conquering the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor between them?

What, if anything, can stop the Horde warmachine?

Participating were:

Jod from Jod’s Blog

Aliera from The Violet Scribe

Saz from World of Saz

As for last week’s Topic, it was proposed by Garona of PvE Rogues who asked us what our favorite race was:

“What is your favourite race in wow?”

Perhaps your favourite race is the one that yields the best DPS or raid utility? Perhaps you’d rather have a certain race because it seems to suit your class best or your characters back story. Maybe you like PVP beneficial racial traits or just like the look of those sexy draeneis or blood elfs.

If questing and alts are more to your liking which race has the best questing racial traits or the most interesting starting quest zones/chains? If you run a personal blog perhaps you wnat to simply talk about what you think about the races, which ones look best, which ones have the best emotes and /dance animation? If you have an RP blog/story going perhaps one of your blog characters falls in love with a race from another faction?

Maybe they just have a fetish for blue hooves or they simply like hanging out with other gnomes. Perhaps you could write a small section of your story that reveals a secret fetish for a certain race or a secret crush!

Revealing their favorites were:

Rustbeard from Little Blue Dog

Aliera from The Violet Scribe

Ama from Specced for Drama

Corath from Corath’s Blog

Saz from World of Saz

Syrco from Syrco Owl

Kamalia from Kamalia et alia (who also wrote a follow-up post)

Christine from Christine’s Blog

Jod from Jod’s Blog

The Pink Pally from Avocation WoW

Tzufit from Tree Heals Go Woosh

Solitudeone from Moonkin Journeys

Kallixta from Kallixta’s Notes

Aaaaand for this upcoming week, we’ve got an unusual Topic. Our Alts…do they know each other? RPers will likely answer easily. But even for us non-RPers, when we stop and think about the existences of our multiple characters, we can’t help but come up with an answer ourselves. So do your characters know each other? Blog about it and Share by posting a link in the thread at Blog Azeroth.

As for our future Topics, be ready for:

Netherhood Welcome Wagon – Target Dummies

Hello Everyone! I’d like you to join me in welcoming Peashooter from Target Dummies to the blogosphere!

Peashooter is a 40 something gamer who has been intimately involved with the fantastical since 20-sided dice were the most popular way to find adventure. Pea miraculously manages to balance WoW with three small children and a heavy work schedule. Because of his very busy life, he find that he has limited playtime, and spends what time he does have working to maximize his gaming experience.

Pea is part of a close knit 10 man raid team that explores everything from current content to vintage content, and finds himself privileged to enjoy their company as they seek out new challenges. When he isn’t raiding, and has the time to be online (!), you can find him whiling away time in the LFD queue, working on achievements or questing.

Pea started Target Dummies as an outlet for his opinions, observations and a place to chat about huntering. He’s been playing WoW since the release of The Burning Crusade, and up just recently saw most of WoW from a solo perspective. Because of the diversity of his blog, you may find that you happen onto many interesting articles such as this look at WoW as a Guilty Pleasure or his thoughts on Real ID vs the Avatar.

Pea also ponders why people seem to be just not that into Cataclysm and what happens when good guild mates go bad. He also offers us some food for thought while exploring a different types of raiding as well as looking at the effect that age may have on performance.

No matter who you are, go take a look! You won’t be disappointed. I think Pea is off to a fantastic start and I can’t wait to see what else he has to say! Welcome to the Blogosphere, Peashooter!
