This week’s Blog Azeroth Shared Topic was suggested by Naithin of Tank ‘n’ Tree, and asks us to think about the different relationships that are formed within Azeroth.
And I don’t (necessarily) mean the romantic ones (although I know of a couple that have worked out). Quite a broad topic really, could take it from the angle of how friendships (or acquaintances) develop relative to those in the real world, or a list of things people do in WoW (that they probably would never do in RL.. Or maybe they would with some people?) that irk you to no end and have you sending them to the abyss of /ignore faster than trade spamming inappropriate jokes?
I’m sure we’ve all dealt with people at either extreme, those we make fast friends with, and a friendship that may endure many years and even across multiple games… Through to those that while they may’ve been within our guild or circle of game friends for some time? Are just an absolute drain to be around for any period of time.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that the beating of dead horses is quite possibly audible from space on this one, but even if you don’t have a unique take on the matter, perhaps you have a rather unique (or at least interesting!) story of your own on the matter.
Responding to this week’s topic are the following:
Jaedia from The Lazy Sniper
Ophelie from The Bossy Pally and the Giant Spoon
Windsoar from Jaded Alt
Cybac from Raid Leader
Phyl from WoW and Me
AngryAlt of Angry Alt
Anea of Anea
Naithin of Tank ‘n’ Tree
Cassandri of Hots and Dots
If you would like to respond to a Shared Topic, or suggest your own, head on over to the Blog Azeroth Forums! Next week’s Shared Topic is RPG Nostalgia.
||Join us tonight for a SPOOKY extravaganza as we enter the funhouse and we give away FABULOUS prizes including the Grand Prize of ONE Figureprints Statue for our “It Came From The Podcast Multi-Cast Give Away”. We will be joined by the hosts from Slash2 Podcast, The Hunting Lodge Podcast, Pugcast and (of course) The Twisted Nether Blogcast
Listen in our LIVE chat room and we’ll take questions (and hopefully answer them if we can).
- When is it?: This live show is scheduled for Friday November 6th at 8:00pm PST (11:00 pm EDT). Not sure what time that is for you? Use this handy-dandy time converter!
- Where do I go? To participate on the live show, you will need to go to the TNB Live Show page to connect with the stream. See, totally easy. If you are having issues then go to the Ustream page.
- Some general ground rules:
- Be nice. If you say very inappropriate things be aware you will be kicked from the room. We are doing this to have a great time, come with a beer, come during a raid, come how you wish, just don’t come to cause trouble.
- You may ask questions to the participants during the show, but we reserve the right to use them if and when we can. I will be monitoring the chat room and if I can I will use the comments during the show. We love that you are with us, but I will have to weave them in. Even if it isn’t asked, we all appreciate your questions
Outside of that, we will love to have you join us and partake in an enlightening discussion that is sure to follow! Hope to see you there!
This week, I’ll be highlighting an addon that helps you run a GDKP raid called GoldRaidManager. In case you’re wondering, GDKP is a style of raid loot distribution popularized by people on Korean MMO servers. Essentially, the way it works is that all drops are auctioned off to the highest bidder, and all the money gained this way gets split among all raid members at the end of the instance. Here’s the thread about it on EJ.
The manual for this addon is a “convenient” mile long JPG with screenshots. Basically, this addon is used every time an epic or something of value drops. People in raid bid gold for drops by typing a number into raid chat. Note- during an auction would be a bad time to link the DPS meters. The winner trades their bid amount to the raid leader, who will divide the gold into 25 equal shares at the end of the raid:
Now GDKP itself is not for everyone, but if your server has enough players who are geared to the teeth and farming ToC while working on ToGC, some of them might well be interested in going back into Naxx or Ulduar again if they could get 2700G from it.
One FAQ I needed answered before I would even consider posting this is about ninjas with master loot- however, this blue post assuaged my fears. Basically, as long as the rules are stated in game chat (not vent), the GMs will consider any loot ninja a scammer, and make sure everyone gets their share.
The resource site spotlight (aka wiki tiki utility posts) should happen every week, but is written by Euripides from outdps.com, and endeavors to fill your favorites bar with an unmanageably large quantity of WOW resource sites. So much knowledge that it hurts. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow.
