Resource Site Spotlight – Noxxic

Noxxic – World of Warcraft Cataclysm Guides is currently in Beta, but like most things currently residing in Beta status, namely every product Google has every pushed out, it is clean, concise, and appears to be working as intended.

What Noxxic provides are class guides, current to Cataclysm, and a very elegant format. Traditionally one would need to go to sites like Elitist Jerks and then drill down through the forums to find information like this, or at the very least, find a central source for all of the classes. I have heard a few folks in the community of late mention that there are whispers of EJ losing some of its credibility. Perhaps this is simply in terms of being up-to-date, or perhaps their hard-edge nature and public humiliation component in terms of bannings has finally caught up to them. That is not a statement I am making, simply expounding on a possibility.

Well what is someone to do if they want a central source for all things class guides and either do not enjoy the EJ environment or simply do not trust the information? Noxxic is a wonderful alternative that I highly recommend trying.

I myself have found a use for it already. I have played, on my Rogue, the Assassination spec since very early ICC content and just recently picked up a Mace and started rolling as Combat. Obviously, I knew nothing about modern Combat spec mechanics, so I went to Noxxic and had a great time reading up on the new rotations and such.

That’s one of the greatest benefits of Noxxic, it’s just so pretty to look at. Head over there and see it for yourself!

Cheers!

Shared Topic: Bring It Back

Last week Mia asked us to walk down memory lane:

Before I was going to bed, I heard someone talk to my husband about some changes in WoW they wish didn’t happen. Like removing some quests, content, class changes. One of the things that popped into my head was “companion deaths”. During the Ragnaros fight in Classic, I heard someone in vent go “Did someone’s cat died?” and sure enough, my Black Tabby companion died. Everyone busted up laughing.

So I thought about some other changes that I would bring back…just for the day? For the week? and Permanently?

With some ideas on what they miss were:

Mia from Chronicles of Mia

Anuillae from Annuillae’s Analytical Assertions

RenaissanceMan from Children of Wrath

Erinys from The Harpy’s Nest

Navimie from The Daily Frostwolf

JD Kenada from Amateur Azerothian

Windsoar from Jaded Alt

Amerence from Amerence Love WoW

Karegine from The Reluctant Raider

Akabeko from Red Cow Rise

This week our shared topic is the Blog Azeroth Thanksgiving Event hosted by Amerence. New entries will be accepted through November 25th, so if you’d like to compete for the 3 great prizes being donated by Amerence, sign up now!

We’ll return to our regularly scheduled Shared Topics after the holidays with Making Your Own Race.

Happy Blogging! (And happy holidays for the Americans ^^)

Netherhood Welcome Wagon – Apple Cider Mage

Hello Everyone! I’d like you to join me in welcoming Apple Cider of Apple Cider Mage.

Apple Cider started playing WoW back in vanilla, drawn in by its social attributes in combination with the beautiful aesthetics. She soon found herself drawn into the raiding game and before she knew it was defeating the Burning Crusade and The Lich King with the same guild that took her through Molten Core. In addition to raiding, Apple Cider is an alt-aholic and avid seeker of WoW’s hidden (and sometimes not so hidden) lore. She loves questing, and has a holiday collection many might envy.

Apple Cider also loves exploring every corner of Azeroth, and has been places she likely had no business being! She’s been a mage since her first day in WoW, yet no portal can contain her adventurous attitude. One of the reasons that Apple Cider decided to start blogging was to share not only her in-depth knowledge, but also her unique perspectives on WoW. Cider is both a die-hard social justice advocate and feminist – and takes those perspectives and applies them to how she views WoW. Which, in turn, leads to some very engaging blogging!

Should you decide to head over and take a peak, you might find that Cider has some thoughts on Blizzard’s new ad campaign or on what one might feel when an era ends. If those don’t interest you, perhaps you might like some tips on how mage’s can maximize their Taxi Service during Pilgrim’s Bounty or learn more about the new Darkmoon Faire. Or perhaps you might be interested in her leveling through Misandry project.

Apple Cider doesn’t shy away from complicated issues, and I know that I can’t wait to hear more of what she has to say!  Welcome to the blogosphere, Apple Cider!

Every Tuesday, Beruthiel from Falling Leaves and Wings is bringing you the Welcome Wagon, introducing new bloggers and great reads. If you know of a new blog to the scene or wish to get your name out there, please send an email to fallingleaves51@gmail.com, with the subject line “Welcome Wagon.” She’ll do her best to highlight as many as possible

Shared Topic: Dear Pandaren, What Class Shall I Play?

Last week’s shared topic was all about class. With the upcoming addition of a new race in Mists of Pandaria Amerence asks

What class are you playing with the new race Pandaren on the new upcoming expansion? I know most players are excited to role as a Monk, but there are lots of options to choose from. Are you going to be a Pandaren healer, melee, caster dps or a tank?

Rolling a Pandaren are:

Amerence from Amerence Love WoW

DotOrion from Mana Cake Musings

Kamalia from Kamalia et Alia

Karagina from The Reluctant Raider

Mia from Chronicles of Mia

This week the blogging crew is waxing nostalgic and discussing features that have changed or are no longer available in the game. We’d love to queue up some new topics, so feel free to share your idea on the Shared Topic forum!

Happy Blogging!
