Shared Topic: The Explorer's Task

Last week’s Shared Topic took a number of bloggers to various hidden corners of Azeroth after Jaedia from The Lazy Sniper challenged the blogosphere to an Explorer’s Task.

Last night, I had an idea for a shared topic that is a little bit different to your usual shared topic. I’ve posted about it here if you’d like a little more detail, but basically, the idea is to take your character out into Azeroth and Outlands, pick a few zones to visit, take a few screenshots maybe, tell us how your character reacts to their surroundings, explore the little bits of lore. It’s really quite open to your own interpretation, but it is an invitation to get out there and write about what you see.

Sometimes when levelling, we bypass things, be it the fallen Old God in Darkshore, or just the Murlocs on the coast. How often do you stop to look around and think?

Participating were:

Poneria from Fel Concentration

Zalduun from Blessing of Fish

Jaedia from The Lazy Sniper

Windsoar from Jaded Alt

Angelya from Revive & Rejuvenate

Raven1981 from WoWTitans.net

Nenunial from The Rambling Draenai Death Knight

Anexxia from The Bible of Dreams

Lunaire from Lunaire’s World of Warcraft

This weeks we’re attacking the sometimes touchy topic of helping new players. Do you help new players? If so, how? Let us know by writing a blog about it and reporting back to the thread at Blog Azeroth!

Shared Topic: The Best & Worst: Cities/Towns

At the suggestion of Windsoar of Jaded Alt last week’s Shared Topic was all about the cities and towns of Azeroth, the good, the bad and the in-between.

After a long day of adventuring, where’s your favorite town to hang up your weapon, take off your boots or slippers and curl up with a glass of wine? (Or a skin of whatever swill you undead people drink.. how does that work anyway? I wouldn’t think you’d need food and water, but I see you nomming as much as the rest of us.)

What town makes you want to turn your charger around and race for the next outpost? Where you know the bedbugs WILL bite, and the slop on your plate will likely leave you with indigestion?

Be as flexible as you like! Capital cities, towns or outposts–even that little wayside moonwell in on the edge of Ferelas is fair game!

Participating last week were:

Elkagorasa from Elkagorasa the Casual

Windsoar from Jaded Alt

Shodaran from Shodaran’s Law

pndrev from Primetime Casual

Manroth from @runtime

Anslym from Totem Tossing

Eryns from Harpy’s Nest

Larisa from The Pink Pigtail Inn (another post of hers on the topic can be found here)

Amaranth608 from Love and War in Azeroth

Khraden from Illumination

Nenunial from The Rambling Draenei Death Knight

Redhawks from Redhawks’ Gaze

Jaedia from The Lazy Sniper

Anexxia from Bible of Dreams

This week, our Shared Topic remains on the geographical side of things, but encourages us to step out of the Azeroth’s beaten paths. Explore Azeroth, take some pictures and share your discoveries on your blog! Then report back to the thread at Blog Azeroth with a link so we can all read about your adventures.

Our pool of upcoming topics is getting smaller, so if you’ve been toying with the idea of suggesting a new Shared Topic, now’s a great time! (Of course, it’s always a great time to suggest a new Shared Topic, but now is especially a great time.) Just post your idea in the Shared Topics forum on Blog Azeroth and one of the moderators will add it to the queue.

Resource Site Spotlight - Time To Die

Phase 3 Sindragosa is proving to be the bane of my raid team at the moment. And even my brilliant-yet-misguided attempts to get us an extra dps’er by pet tanking it (my pet can single tank it, we have to swap 2 tanks otherwise) have failed. And while this week’s highlighted add-on hasn’t helped us down Sindy, it’s been interesting and useful nonetheless.

http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/timetodie.aspx

Time to Die will track a boss’s health, your raid’s dps rates, and calculate how long it will be before the boss will die. For Sindragosa, it tells me how much longer we need to learn to exist in Phase 3 to beat her. For some dps-intesive fights, it can also tell you if you’re ahead of an enrage timer (25M timers on bosses such as Festergut and Blood Queen are still an issue for some raid teams). Paired with classic raiding add-ons like DBM that show enrage timers, it can help you see the kind of progress your raid has made, or how much it still needs to make.

Episode 87 - FAQ U Psynister

For our last Friday recording (for a while), we welcome Psynister from Psynister’s Notebook. We talk, at length, about the new RealID information that has emerged and skim the subject of the alpha leaks. Oh, and, of course, we blame it all on gold buyers!
